Need Exists in DuPage County

  • 25.1% of students are eligible for free lunch

  • 8.1% is the child food insecurity rate

  • 10,054 families are below the poverty line

  • 8.9% of the population has trouble speaking English

  • 28.4% of households speak a language other than English in the home

  • 43.6% of renting households are rent-burdened (spending more than 30% of monthly income on rent)

  • 22.11% of households have incomes of less than $50,000

  • The poverty line for a family of four is $30,000

Beyond the Bell

  • Provides clothing and personal products to resolve student emergencies at school. Available to 9438 students in 26 schools.

2496 students in 48 schools received clothing they needed for school, improving attendance, self-esteem, and participation.

Operation School Bell® - early reading

  • 523 students each received a new book to take home and could watch videos of Assistance League volunteers reading the book to them.

  • 7 different books chosen to fit the educational needs of each classroom
