Assisteens® Book Fair May 2024
The teens solicited donations of gently used books and sorted them by age group. They created a book fair for Pre-K, kindergarten and 1st grade students. The high school students helped the younger ones to select the books to start their own home library. Enjoy the slideshow below.
Who Are Assisteens®?
We are proud to encourage and provide volunteer opportunities for today’s youth. Assisteens® is an auxiliary membership type under Assistance League Chicagoland West for high school students. The goals of participation are to develop a sense of community responsibility, self-reliance, personal responsibility, and leadership skills.
Assisteens® help with carrying out existing programs that support education, self-reliance and community connection. They are also encouraged to work together to implement their new ideas for supporting children and adults in DuPage and western Cook counties.
Assisteens® have participated in various activities including fundraising, running afterschool camps, creating a book give-away for elementary schools, and supporting our chapter’s programs by helping with winter coat deliveries and stocking kitchen items.
